ABE Coca-Cola

The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley began as a franchise founded in 1917. The plant was and still is responsible for bottling, distribution and sales of a variety of Coca-Cola products.
In 1963, Coca-Cola Bottling of the Lehigh Valley was purchased by ABARTA; a family owned business formed by the Adams, Bitzer, Roehr and Taylor families. Headquarters are in Pittsburgh, PA. ABARTA purchased the Coatesville Coca-Cola Bottling Works in 1993 thus forming ABARTA Beverage East, (ABE). |
Joseph Filoromo founded Coatesville Coca-Cola Bottling Works, Inc in 1915. The original bottling plant was located on Eighth Avenue in Coatesville. Coca-Cola in glass bottles was the only product produced at that time. As the business grew, a larger building was needed and the Filomoros moved to the current building on Caln Road.
In addition to the ABARTA Beverage East, (Coatesville and Lehigh Valley sites), ABARTA also owns and operates two other Coca-Cola properties: Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Buffalo Inc. and Cleveland Coca-Cola Bottling Company. ABARTA is currently ranked as the eighth largest independent bottler in the United States.
